Shifting entirely away from the supernatural and the lone, relentless serial killer, this installment in the horror series takes a more realistic approach. I've wanted to pursue this for some time. The element of potential reality made it intriguing to develop and allowed me to narrate it from the viewpoint of a broadcasting network or reporter, offering a distinct reading experience.
Honestly, I had numerous options for this, but I'm pleased with the final result. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

The day is nearly here, nearly here,
Is this a time for fear or a cheer?
Buy all your supplies in advance,
Give yourself the greatest chance.
Barricades and defence for those who abstain,
Prepare the basement as the night’s domain.
Everyone wanting to provide their support,
Always remember to protect your transport.
To keep moving is the best chance to survive,
And in this hostility, score points and thrive.
Are you opportunistic or have you planned?
Will you venture out armed, or scour the land?
The day is here, are you prepared?
Are the weak points secure and repaired?
Locked doors and windows barred,
Unleash the defences in the yard.
Roll the shutters on any way in,
Wait it out with an anxious grin.
The day is here, follow the rules,
Survival is possible with luck and the tools.
Turn out the light, pretend you’re not home,
Keep out of sight and be sure not to roam.
Don’t fall for the ruse from the knock at the door,
Unless you’re ready for a bloody war.
The day is here, time for the cull,
Don’t be despondent if there’s a lull.
On your own or in a group,
But can you trust those in your troupe?
It’s free for all in the end,
Anything goes, tonight there’s no friend.
Violence, destruction, and murder fair game,
Do what you will without any blame.
Rich and the poor are encouraged to take part,
As long as you wait for the siren to start.
The day is here, it’s underway,
Opportunistic or have you chosen your prey?
Higher-ups are the only exempt,
Everyone else, you hold with contempt.
Take as many as possible in the given time,
And give the country another lifeline.
The day is over, done for a year,
Get out there and help get the carnage all clear.
Whether you’ve purged or whether you hid,
We thank your service, all crime we now forbid.
As always we hope you had a joyous purge day,
Until next year, wash those desires away.
You’ve given your country much aid,
These fire sales help prevent the degrade,
Reduce the population and room for new trade,
The good of the nation, that’s our crusade.
